What is Mediation?
Mediation is a dynamic, structured, interactive process where a trained neutral third party assists couples, families and businesses to reach a mutually beneficial decision and plan for their future. This approach is based on a definition that conflict is necessary for change, but change is difficult. So how do we develop a structured process to reach change with the benefit of all in mind? Mediation is a voluntary process by which couples, families and businesses enter into in order to avoid litigation costs and preserve relationships for a healthy outcome. The mediation process serves as a model for better future communications. In addition, mediated agreements have a higher compliance rate because those involved have reached an agreement that was concerned mutually fair and satisfactory.

Family businesses are unique and challenging, whether they are the first or fourth generation. We pride ourselves on strengthening your ability to communicate and collaborate in order to grow to your best potential.
How can we help your family business?
Marriage and businesses have a lot in common. They are partnerships where communication skills and techniques are important in making everyday decisions. Just because you live together doesn’t mean you communicate well. That’s where mediation comes in!
COMMUNICATE…
Communication in family businesses is usually poor or nonexistent, often causing breakdowns, sabotage and sadly, divorces! In working with family businesses, there is often an assumption that “things will just work out” and that everyone shares a common “head.” But the reality is that there is a lot going on under the surface and only comes out during a major change – often finding out that there have been many undisclosed conflicts going on for years!
COLLABORATE…
Developing an agenda of specific items that need to be discussed is one of the first steps we take; then, Succession planning, Vision and Mission statements, clarity and future visions will all be discussed so that the “plan” for the company can be successfully separated from the family and its unique dynamics.
CELEBRATE!
This Mediation inspired approach has often led to entirely new ways of dealing with conflicts; allowing the day to day dealings inside the operating company to be free of underlying stress and fear. This allows the family to relate healthily and the company to follow its own secure and successful path!
Don’t let your family issues cause your business to falter.
A business (and marriage) is only as healthy as the people in it!
