Collaborative Law
Collaborative Law is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which each party hires professionals who are trained and committed to the negotiation settlement without going to court.
In Collaborative Law, parties hire 2 attorneys who are committed to handling the issues through informal methods. The goal is to settle a case without going to court. If negotiations fail, a mediator can facilitate further discussions between parties and their attorneys.
Counsels and Financial planners are after part often part of the discussions.
In the Collaborative process, the couple each hires an attorney who will represent them only during the Collaborative process. Should the process be unsuccessful, the couple will need to hire two new attorneys to litigate and complete the divorce process.
